Welcome to Sood! We are a modern osteria located in the lively center of Bari. Our concept draws its roots from London and reaches all the way to Puglia, with the aim of bringing a touch of internationality to our beloved hometown. We are a snack/tapas bar and restaurant open for lunch, dinner, and aperitifs, where you can taste dishes characterized by fascinating blends of cultures and traditions, sip good wine in good company, and relax in a casual and welcoming atmosphere!

But where does SOOD come from?
In 2016, amidst the vibrant streets of Broadway Market in the heart of East London, Sood was born. Initially known as Sood Family, we made our entrance by offering delicious panzerotti and sandwiches filled with authentic Italian delicacies such as parmigiana and octopus ragù. As our love for cooking grew, we expanded our activities, organizing supper clubs, street food events, and catering services. Our passion led us to the Old Spitalfields Market, one of London’s oldest and most renowned markets, where we had the honor of participating in Nuno Mendes’ project, The Kitchens, alongside the celebrated Portuguese chef.
Thanks to our unique concept, centered around the freshness of homemade pasta, we have become a true landmark for Londoners. Our reputation has reached the pages of renowned magazines like BBC Good Food, Hackney Gazette, and others, solidifying our commitment to authentic Italian cuisine.

Carlo Dehò
Carlo Dehò, born in 1987, graduated in law but soon discovered that his true calling was elsewhere: the culinary world! After spending years in London, where he gained a solid education and extensive experience by working in renowned British markets and learning from internationally acclaimed chefs, he decided to return to Bari and establish SOOD | Osteria Metropolitana.
Authentic, friendly, and jovial, Carlo is always up-to-date with the latest trends. He has a captivating personality and infectious charisma. He is the kind of person who can make you feel comfortable from the very first moment, with his warm smile and carefree attitude! His dedication to bringing high-quality cuisine and exceptional hospitality to the forefront of the SOOD experience is a testament to his sunny personality and his love for the culinary arts.
Alessandro Barbara
Alessandro Barbara, chef at SOOD, spends ten precious years in London, a period that profoundly shapes his culinary career. During his time in the vibrant British capital, he works in numerous Michelin-starred kitchens, including Barrafina, a restaurant specializing in Spanish tapas, and Annabel’s, specializing in British and French cuisine. Throughout his stay, he cooks alongside the chef at Gascoigne’s restaurant, who teaches him the secrets of refined and international cuisine!
Ale has extraordinary creativity and a personal and innovative approach to cooking. His mind is constantly in motion, searching for new flavor combinations, captivating presentations, and cutting-edge techniques. Every bite conveys a story and an emotion, creating an unforgettable culinary experience.
